The Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) is a statutory authority within the portfolio of the federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, jointly funded by the Australian Government and the fishing industry. It is responsible to its stakeholders to plan, invest in and manage fisheries Research and Development throughout Australia; and facilitate the dissemination, adoption and commercialisation of R&D results.
Research and Development funded by the FRDC not only helps provide information on Australia’s natural resources it aids the development of the fishing industry. The FRDC sees the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Awards program as a way of ensuring the next generation of young chefs have a solid understanding of Australia’s fishing industry and the products it produces.
