Applicants

  • if you are not selected as a finalist, you will receive brief feedback regarding your application from the judging panel
  • the opportunity to participate in an educational/skills workshop during 2018

Finalists

  • individual constructive feedback from the judging panel during your individual interview at the state cook off
  • the opportunity to network with other like-minded chefs in your home city/state
  • the opportunity to participate in an educational/skills workshop during 2018

National finalists

  • individual constructive feedback from the judging panel during your individual interview at the final cook off
  • certificate & digital images of your dishes cooked during the program
  • an all-expenses paid produce tour of one of Australia’s leading food and wine region to meet and learn from some Australia’s world renowned dairy, seafood, meat, horticulture and viticulture producers. This is made possible with support from partners such as Fisheries Research and Development Corporation, Rare Medium and Porkstar

Australian young chef of the year (scholar)

  • Certificate
  • Participate in a tailor made European culinary trip to stage in a world renowned restaurants with the assistance of our judges & Appetite for Excellence
  • Return overseas economy flights courtesy of Virgin Australia to participate in the above prize*
  • $3000 to help with overseas accommodation, travel and expenses
  • PR and media recognition
